At present, around 30 to 40 percent of the population is living below the poverty line in India. These people do not only have a low-income background, but they cannot even access necessities like food, shelter, healthcare, etc. Children from this section are exposed to tough situations in life. Poverty makes them vulnerable to malnutrition, health problems, and exploitation. These children lose their rights to physical, mental, social, and emotional development, and they are at risk of having issues like sleeplessness, stress, and low self-confidence. While poverty is the biggest cause of this dilemma, lack of education plays an important role in their hardship.

There are many ways to extend your support to underprivileged children, including volunteering with a reliable charity involved in the welfare of poor children, making a donation for Girl child and education, spreading awareness about different causes, and encouraging people to contribute in the same.

Here we talk about some easy ways to improve the lives of underprivileged children.

Help Them Fulfill Basic Needs

As mentioned earlier, lack of access to basic necessities is the biggest issue for underprivileged children. You can help kids from poor backgrounds by donating cash, clothes, food, etc. Also, you can choose a more localized approach where you can arrange food or clothes drives or fundraising events in your community. Donate the earnings to poor families, homeless shelters, and orphanages. Also, you can start a food or feeding drive for children from schools in remote and disadvantaged areas.

Support for Education

Every child has the right to education regardless of their living condition or family status. You can help poor children go to school, study, and get better chances for a brighter and better future. In India, many NGOs and charities work towards educating poor and less privileged children. You can volunteer your time or donate some money to help these organizations continue their noble work. Also, you can organize a book donation drive or fundraising event for poor children’s education. Apart from that, you can provide free education to underprivileged children from an NGO or pay the education fees for these children. You can also organize an outdoor sports event once or twice a week with the children to help them learn many life skills in the process. Sports such as football, hockey, and cricket can help kids develop time management and team skills.

Show Them Care and Support

As these children come from underprivileged families, they may be prone to several mental health issues and traumas, growing them into dysfunctional adults. Therefore, compassion, care, and kindness are vital to these children. You can make them feel secure by reducing their misery and showing that someone cares. There are many ways to do something for these children. You can sponsor a child directly in your community or through a non-profit organization. It will provide less-fortunate children the mental and emotional support they need in their lives.

These are a few things you can do to help children from the poor and underprivileged section. Remember, even if we support or sponsor just one child for a better future, it will be the right step in the right direction. Those who want to donate to support these children should choose only a registered and reliable NGO services in India. It will ensure that your money is spent on the welfare of deserving candidates.
